The Nationwide Community Pharmacists Association 2015 Annual Convention wrapped up today.

Exceptional Adherence Practitioner Award: John Sykora John Sykora, RPh, pharmacist and owner of Abrams and Clark for more than 30 years, won the Excellent Adherence Practitioner Award for his long-term efforts to really improve medication adherence. NCPA highlighted Sykora’s medication synchronization business model, which was developed back in 1996. Pharmacy Times previously reported that this program is targeted at managing patients’ prescriptions, workflow, inventory, billing, and hours of procedure. Sykora’s work has inspired medicine synchronization applications such as NCPA’s Simplify My Meds.We look forward to dealing with Medicare beneficiaries and our developing network of more than 41,000 pharmacies beginning May 3, to help our sufferers understand the benefits of the lower price cards and begin saving money. The survey also discovered that a majority of these without prescription drug insurance describe their expenditures for prescription medications as large, and a majority say they find it difficult to cover these costs. Furthermore, almost one-4th say they possess either not filled a new prescription or not really refilled a prescription because of cost, and one-fourth have tried to stretch their prescriptions by firmly taking their medications less often than recommended or by firmly taking smaller doses than they are likely to in order to save money.
